Kaya Scodelario's Dubai Getaway & Netflix's The Gentleman Season 2
Kaya Scodelario soaks up Dubai sun at £800-a-night hotel

Former Skins star Kaya Scodelario has been enjoying some winter sun during a lavish getaway to Dubai, sharing snaps from her stay at the prestigious Atlantis The Palm hotel.

A Luxury Dubai Escape

The 33-year-old actress, who shot to fame playing the iconic Effy Stonem on E4's Skins between 2007 and 2013, showcased her incredible figure in a sleek black bikini. She was photographed relaxing on a padded sun lounger beside the hotel's rooftop swimming pool, soaking up the rays with a bright smile.

In another holiday image, Kaya swapped her swimwear for a elegant white maxi dress and sunglasses, posing in front of the opulent hotel facade. She shared the photos on social media, thanking @atlantisthepalm and @atlantistheroyal for a "very special time in Dubai over New Year." With a touch of her signature wit, she added: "Now back to the crippling panic of trying to remember when it’s PE day."

Her luxurious break took place at the renowned Atlantis The Palm, where rooms can cost upwards of £800 per night.

Back to Work on a Netflix Hit

The holiday follows a busy period of filming for the actress. Last year, Scodelario was hard at work on the highly anticipated second series of Netflix's hit comedy-drama, The Gentleman.

She reprises her role as Susie Glass in the show, which stars Theo James as aristocrat Eddie Halstead and Vinnie Jones as hardman Geoffrey Seacombe. The first season proved to be a massive success for the streaming giant, becoming one of 2024's biggest hits after amassing a staggering 44 million views in just four weeks.

Filming for the new season has involved dramatic scenes shot in London, including sequences with a motorbike gang tearing through the streets. Jones was pictured wielding a baseball bat as his character violently unseated a rider.

The cast for the new season is expanding, with Downton Abbey's Hugh Bonneville joining the ensemble. The series follows Eddie Halstead, who inherits his family's estate only to discover it houses a vast cannabis empire run by characters who have no intention of leaving.

From Skins Teen to Screen Star

Kaya Scodelario's career was launched by her role as the enigmatic and party-loving Effy Stonem in Skins. Despite having no prior acting experience, she was cast at just 14 years old and quickly became a fan favourite.

Her career has continued to flourish since the show ended. Prior to her work on The Gentleman, she attended the Toronto Film Festival for the premiere of her film Adulthood. For the event, she turned heads in a plunging pink ombre suit. In the movie, she stars alongside Josh Gad, playing siblings who uncover a long-buried corpse in their parents' basement, triggering a spiral of crime and cover-ups.

The original Skins series is renowned for launching the careers of numerous British actors, and Kaya Scodelario remains one of its most successful alumni, seamlessly transitioning from teen drama to major film and television roles.
