The sprawling Hamptons retreat of actor Alec Baldwin and his wife Hilaria has become the subject of a brutal online roasting, after a prominent social media user delivered a scathing critique of the property's interior design.
A No-Holds-Barred Design Assessment
Internet personality Dan Mahboubian Rosen, who boasts over 200,000 followers on Instagram, took aim at the couple's 11,000-square-foot estate in a viral video. He began his takedown by questioning, "How does someone with so much money like Alec Baldwin live in a place like this?"
Rosen didn't hold back, describing the overall aesthetic as "boring" and "lacking in personality." He sarcastically suggested it looked as if the Baldwins had "run out of money doing set decoration for a Hallmark holiday film," and joked about whether they had used a "Groupon to Pottery Barn."
Room-by-Room Roasting
The critique extended to every corner of the home. Of the living room, Rosen said it resembled a space where "Barbara Bush would come to play bridge." He even took issue with the light fixtures, demanding, "Why are the lights in jail? Free the lights!"
One of the home's seven bathrooms, with its all-white interior, was likened to mayonnaise. "At least aioli, at least some spice," he lamented, questioning the inspiration behind the look. The only item he praised for having any character was a pop art-style painting of Hilaria in a bodega.
Rosen also expressed disbelief at the home's tidiness, given the couple are parents to seven children. "They have like 42 kids, there's no way everything is this ordered and neat," he exaggerated. "This house is a mess, show us the mess!"
Reactions and Real Estate History
The viral video did not go unnoticed by the Baldwins. The actor, clearly stung by the comments, responded directly with, "Why don't you go away?" Hilaria, however, appeared to take the critique in her stride, replying simply with a crying laughing emoji.
The property itself has a long history with the family. Alec Baldwin purchased the estate for $1.75 million back in 1995. The home, where the couple spend their summers, features five bedrooms, seven bathrooms, a library, a playroom, and a large pool.
Baldwin has attempted to sell the property in the recent past. He first listed it in September 2022 for $29 million, before cutting the price to $24.9 million in January 2023 and again to $22.5 million in March 2023. It is currently off the market.
