Sean Slater (Rob Kazinsky) has made a dramatic return to EastEnders to help search for missing Amy Mitchell (Ellie Dadd). Amy left Walford with disgraced detective Craig Ingram (Matthew James Bailey), who had been grooming her for months after discovering she was guilty of attacking Joel Marshall (Max Murray).
Craig used Amy's admission to manipulate her into believing she could only trust him. After Craig lost his job, Amy accessed her inheritance early with help from Max Branning (Jake Wood) and transferred the cash to Craig's account. Jack Branning (Scott Maslen) was horrified to learn Amy had left with Craig, prompting a police search.
Sean's History with Amy's Family
Amy is the daughter of Roxy Mitchell and Jack Branning. Roxy, who died almost a decade ago, was in a relationship with Sean in 2008. Her sister Ronnie (Samantha Womack) disapproved because Sean had been a drug dealer and tried to break them up without success.
After an argument with Ronnie, Roxy got drunk and slept with Jack, who was then a key love interest for Ronnie. Sean learned of the pregnancy and initially assumed he was not the father. Roxy first told Sean he wasn't the dad but later said he was, much to his delight. The couple married and looked forward to a happy future together.
The Truth and the Kidnapping
Roxy gave birth to a girl named Amy in memory of Ronnie's baby. On Christmas Day 2008, Sean learned the devastating truth that Jack was Amy's father. He then kidnapped Amy, but Stacey (Lacey Turner) returned home with the child. Sean later showed up claiming he had forgiven Roxy and wanted to try again.
Ronnie was sceptical and certain Roxy was in danger. Her theory proved correct when Sean drove Roxy and Amy towards a frozen lake. Roxy rescued Amy but fell through the ice with Sean. Both survived, but Sean did not return to the Square for 11 years, making brief appearances in 2019, 2021, and a video call with mum Jean (Gillian Wright) in 2022.
Sean's Promise to Roxy
In present-day scenes, Sean is determined to save Amy and honour his promise to Roxy to keep a watchful eye on their daughter. Whether he will succeed remains to be seen.
