What time is Match of the Day on tonight? BBC show returns

Match of the Day returns to screens this weekend after a three-week break from Premier League action. The BBC football highlights show, one of the world's longest-running TV programmes, has served UK audiences since 1964.

Last year marked a new era for the show following Gary Lineker's exit. He was replaced by Gabby Logan, Kelly Cates and Mark Chapman, who currently share the hosting role. More changes were introduced at the start of this season, as four new additions joined the pundit roster – Toby Alderweireld, Robbie Keane, Ashley Young and Thomas Frank. They have joined regular pundits Alan Shearer, Wayne Rooney, Ellen White, Steph Houghton, Danny Murphy and Ashley Williams.

Why was the show off air?

MOTD fans will know the programme has been absent from screens in recent weeks due to the international football break. The Premier League paused while players joined their national teams for international fixtures.

During that time, England played four UEFA Nations League matches. They notably lost to Spain 3-2, before going on to win both matches against the Czech Republic and one against Croatia. As the Premier League prepares to resume this weekend, here is everything you need to know about the return of Match of the Day.

What time is Match of the Day on tonight?

Match of the Day will return to BBC One and iPlayer tonight (Saturday, October 10) at 10.30pm. Gabby Logan will present highlights of the latest Premier League matches, including Arsenal v Leeds United at the Emirates Stadium and Manchester United v Tottenham Hotspur at Old Trafford.

Champions Arsenal were looking to bounce back from their first loss of the season away to Brighton and Hove Albion just before the international break when they took on a Leeds side that boasted an unbeaten league record so far this season. Meanwhile, Manchester United have struggled for consistency in the early stages of their campaign.

Gabby will also take a look at highlights from Aston Villa v Brentford, Chelsea v Bournemouth, Ipswich Town v Fulham and Sunderland v Brighton. Match of the Day will then return to screens on Sunday (October 11) at 10.30pm with more live coverage.

Sunday's coverage and off-screen news

Mark Chapman will be in the studio to present action from Liverpool v Manchester City, Crystal Palace v Nottingham Forest and Hull City v Everton. The host will also look back at the best goals from Saturday's games.

Mark's appearance on screen comes after it was reported that he is dating his MOTD co-star Kelly Cates. The Sun claims that the pair are in a relationship, after Mark split from his former girlfriend Clere Collier back in April.

Match of the Day is available to stream on BBC iPlayer.
