The second series of BBC drama This City Is Ours has landed in full on BBC iPlayer, with all eight episodes now available to stream. The new run was filmed across Liverpool city centre, the wider Merseyside region and in Spain.
Liverpool and Merseyside locations
Key filming areas in Liverpool include Old Hall Street, Lark Lane and Hope Street, alongside landmarks such as the Liver Building, Albert Dock and Pier Head. Other Merseyside locations used by the crew include Sefton Park, Liverpool John Lennon Airport, Moorfields Station, Queensway Tunnel, the Atlantic Hotel, China Town, Wood Street, The Vines pub on Lime Street, Gaucho on Water Street, the Great Homer Street Market car park, Otterspool, Liverpool Cathedral, The ACC and Pogue Mahone.
Additional sites include Papillon on Hope Street, Derek's on College Road, the Old School House on Lark Lane, Rita's Cafe on Kirkstone Road in Litherland, a mansion on Temple Street, Freshfield Caravan Park, the White Heart Pub, Ye Cracke on Rice Street, Yonder in the Baltic Quarter and a vacant shop on Pensby Road in Heswall that was turned into a nail bar.
Spain filming locations
While most scenes were shot across Merseyside, filming also took place in Malaga, Spain. The city sits in Andalusia in southern Spain and is home to the Costa Del Sol. Felipe Guzman's villa, played by Álvaro Morte, is located in Malaga and features a pool with ocean views. According to Forbes, the property has five bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms, elevator access to all levels and interiors decorated with handcrafted Moroccan mosaics. The outdoor areas include 35,000m² of landscaped gardens, a large swimming pool with Moroccan tiles and terraces with panoramic Mediterranean views.
In the second episode, Diana and Cheryl dine with Felipe at a luxury restaurant, reportedly filmed at Nota Blu Marbella. In an exclusive interview with the ECHO, actor James Nelson-Joyce spoke about filming in Liverpool, saying: "It looks very filmic. When the show came out places we shot in like The Quarter were all fully booked up because people want to come to Liverpool and experience it. That's what we want, isn't it? We want people to come to our city, to visit and experience it."
Showcasing the city
He added: "I think the beautiful thing about this show is that we have an opportunity to showcase Liverpool. The tourism that we've brought in is only a good thing, isn't it?" This City Is Ours airs on BBC One and iPlayer.
