Lawrence Robb became the latest celebrity to be voted out of Strictly Come Dancing, leaving viewers "gutted" after the show's first-ever three-couple dance-off.
The Emmerdale actor was competing for the Glitterball trophy alongside professional dancer Jowita Przystał. Their time on the BBC show ended on Halloween week when the judges unanimously voted for them to leave the contest.
An unprecedented dance-off
The spooky-themed week saw a show first as three couples faced elimination after receiving the lowest combined judges' scores and public votes. Lawrence and Jowita reprised their Halloween Week routine, a tango to Ghostbusters by Ray Parker Jr, alongside Jaime Winstone and Carlos Gu, and Bethany Antonia and Nancy Xu.
In a twist to the usual format, the judges had to choose which couple to eliminate rather than which couple to save. Shirley Ballas, Anton Du Beke and Craig Revel Horwood all voted to eliminate Lawrence and Jowita.
Judges' unanimous decision
This meant Motsi Mabuse did not need to use her casting vote. However, she confirmed she would also have voted to eliminate them had her vote been needed.
Lawrence was disappointed to leave the show but looked on the bright side, saying: "Monday is going to be weird but I'm moving house but now I've got time to move house so silver linings."
Fans react to the exit
Fans were "gutted" that Lawrence was leaving and suggested he was only up for elimination because of the three-couple dance-off. Debbie said: "I'm gutted for Lawrence. He was improving every week and was such a lovely guy. His partnership with Jowita was wonderful. So disappointing". Sere added: "I knew it as soon as I saw that stupid twist that Lawrence was gonna be eliminated this week."
Amy commented: "Also a bit frustrating that Lawrence probably wouldn't have even been in the dance-off if it hadn't been for the stupid new three way rule!" Hayley posted: "Gutted for Lawrence, wouldn't have even been in that dance-off if it was kept at a two way!"
However, other viewers felt the right decision was ultimately made. Ryan posted: "As much as I loved Lawrence and Jowita as a partnership I think tonight was the right result. Lawrence was improving but he's naturally not suited to ballroom due to the major height difference. I also think Ghostbusters was a horrendous song choice for a Tango."
Jay posted: "I liked Lawrence but last night it was his worst performance of the series. As much as I'm gutted he is going, as I liked him, I'm neither shocked or surprised."
What happens next
Strictly will return to a two-couple dance-off for the rest of the series. The remaining 10 couples will return to the dancefloor next week at 6.30pm on BBC One on Saturday, November 7.
