Hollywood star Tessa Thompson has officially confirmed her return to the acclaimed boxing franchise, revealing she will reprise her role as Bianca in the upcoming Creed IV.
The announcement comes as production details emerge about the next instalment in the popular film series, with Thompson sharing insights about the project's development timeline during an interview with The Independent.
Behind the Camera: Nia DaCosta Takes the Helm
The film will be directed by rising star Nia DaCosta, who previously directed the 2021 Candyman reboot and Marvel's The Marvels. However, fans will need to exercise patience as DaCosta's schedule has created a natural delay in the Creed production timeline.
"We're just waiting for her to have the time", Thompson explained, acknowledging DaCosta's current commitments. "We're all really excited" about the director's vision for the next chapter.
Filming Locations Span North America
Production is expected to take place across two major locations, mirroring the franchise's established pattern. Toronto will once again serve as a primary filming hub, standing in for Philadelphia where the films are set.
Additionally, portions of the movie will be shot in Los Angeles, continuing the series' tradition of blending East Coast grit with West Coast production resources.
Building on Creed III's Success
The confirmation follows the massive success of Creed III, which saw Michael B. Jordan both star in and make his directorial debut with the film. That instalment explored Adonis Creed's confrontation with a childhood friend turned rival, played by Jonathan Majors.
While specific plot details for Creed IV remain tightly under wraps, Thompson's confirmation ensures the continuity of Bianca's journey alongside Adonis Creed's evolving story in the boxing world.
