Queen Camilla has made a surprise appearance at Wimbledon this afternoon, arriving at the All England Club to enjoy an afternoon of tennis from the Royal Box. The Queen was spotted on the grounds shortly after midday, marking an unexpected but welcome visit to the prestigious tournament.
Meetings with Wimbledon staff and officials
Upon arrival, Queen Camilla met former British number one Heather Watson, as well as Morag Ranford, who has dedicated 50 years to working at Wimbledon in the press operations team. The Queen also chatted with Pete Dobson, a longstanding Safety Officer who is retiring after this year's Championships. Additionally, she spoke with representatives from City Harvest, a charity combating food waste, which the Wimbledon Foundation supports with a grant for their food delivery truck named “Vandy Murray”.
Young ball boys and girls greeted
Camilla also took time to meet Ball Boy Zebedee from St Cecilia’s CofE School and Ball Girl Aniya from Tiffin Girls. Her warm interactions with the young volunteers highlighted her support for the next generation of tennis enthusiasts.
Coincides with Prince Harry's UK return
The Queen's visit to Wimbledon coincides with Prince Harry's return to the UK. The Duke of Sussex is conducting an engagement just seven miles away in Chelsea today, adding a layer of royal interest to the day's events.
