Netflix has officially announced that the fifth and final season of its hit drama Outer Banks will premiere on Thursday, August 20, 2026. The streaming giant also released a teaser trailer and first-look images, giving fans a glimpse of the explosive conclusion.
What to Expect in the Final Season
The upcoming season picks up after the tragic death of JJ (Rudy Pankow) in Season 4. A synopsis from Netflix states: "Season 5 finds the Pogues at their absolute breaking point following the tragic loss of JJ in Morocco. Stranded far from home and mourning the heart of their crew, they've lost the Blue Crown and continue to face a gauntlet of familiar threats."
Returning cast members include Chase Stokes as John B, Madelyn Cline as Sarah Cameron, Madison Bailey as Kiara, Jonathan Daviss as Pope, Carlacia Grant as Cleo, and Drew Starkey as Rafe. JJ's killer, his father Chandler Groff (J. Anthony Crane), remains at large, along with Dalia (Pollyanna McIntosh) and the Corsairs.
Pogues' Final Quest
Netflix teases: "The Pogues are in a desperate race to reclaim their future and finally win the freedom they've always been chasing. It's the Pogues against the world as they seek to avenge their best friend and bring it on home … one final time."
Creators Josh Pate, Jonas Pate, and Shannon Burke shared in a statement: "We are over the moon to be setting out on one last trip with the Pogues. Production and Release
Filming for the final season concluded in April 2026. Outer Banks Season 5 will be available exclusively on Netflix starting August 20, 2026.
