MobLand season 2 consists of 10 episodes, matching the length of the first season, with three instalments remaining before the current run concludes. The final episodes air weekly on Fridays, with episode eight scheduled for November 6, episode nine for November 13 and episode 10 for November 20.
Season 2 so far
The latest episode, episode seven, saw the Harrigans return to the Cotswolds to discover the destructive acts of drug lord Frankie Cooper, played by Johnny Flynn. Frankie came under pressure from Kat McAllister, portrayed by Janet McTeer, who gave him a week to eliminate the Harrigans and prove his worth. To lure Harry Da Souza, played by Tom Hardy, Frankie set up Harrigan enforcer Paul O'Donnell, played by Emmett J. Scanlan.
Harry faced a 50/50 chance at death in the trap but escaped unharmed. Only the title for episode eight, We Don't Talk Anymore, has been revealed so far, with creators keeping further spoilers under wraps.
Third season confirmed
Episode 10 does not mark the end of the series, as the gang drama was renewed for a third season in September. At a Paramount UK Upfront event in October, executive producer David Glasser hinted that season 3 will see "someone challenge Tom Hardy", without elaborating further.
Fan and cast reactions
Fans have shared praise for the latest episode on X, with one writing: "#MobLand season 2 episode 7. There’s been some great shows this year. This episode MobLand is the best thing I’ve watched all year. I’m totally invested in the characters & plot lines. I put this up there with The Wire & Sopranos." Another added: "S2E7 is f******* awesome!! Tom Hardy has been delivering everything as Harry." A third said: "Some of the best television writing I’ve seen since Mad Men. #Mobland." A fourth asked: "Is anyone else absolutely stunned by Jonny Flynn's performance as Frankie?" Another observed: "I think Frankie Cooper is the best villain in TV for a long time. That actor is incredible #Mobland."
Flynn previously told GQ about playing the character: "It was fun being basically completely demented. I love the humour of it, and then obviously there are some really dark moments. To tread that line of surprise and intelligence — [Frankie] likes to kind of leave egg in everyone's faces, basically, and run rings around people. He's often the smartest person in the room until he meets Harry, Tom [Hardy’s] character, and I think there's this lovely kind of polarity between those two characters." In a separate interview with Radio Times, he said he was nothing like his character and was quite shy, explaining: "I rarely go on a red carpet because if somebody sees me and thinks, ‘That’s Johnny Flynn, he wears a suit that looks like that…’ then they won’t be able to use their imagination as actively when they see me in something. Also, I’m quite shy. If I have to go on chat shows, I get terrible panic attacks." MobLand airs weekly on Paramount+.
