ITV's new game show Millionaire Hot Seat, hosted by Jeremy Clarkson, faced a wave of identical complaints from viewers on Tuesday evening. The programme, which puts a rapid spin on the traditional Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? format, saw contestants taking too long to answer questions, according to social media users.
The show features six players rotating through the hot seat, with only 15 seconds to answer each question. Correct answers allow contestants to stay and climb the prize ladder, while wrong answers lead to instant elimination and a reduced jackpot. Each player also has one 'pass' to use, sending them to the back of the queue for another chance.
Viewers took to X to vent their frustration, with one writing: 'These people all like the sound of their own voices... or think they're on regular WWTBAM.' Another added: 'Can't they just answer the bl**dy question and stop talking sh**e all the b****rd time!' A third quipped: 'Do they realise how long 15 seconds is? Stop yapping.'
Despite the criticism, some viewers enjoyed the format, with one comparing it to 'a quiz show version of speed dating.' Another tweeted: '#millionairehotseat quite like the format tbf.'
During the episode, Clarkson highlighted the game's ruthless nature. When one contestant passed a question, the next player could not pass and was eliminated after guessing incorrectly. Clarkson remarked: 'What a brutal game! It's so brutal.'
