Maya Jama did not appear on Celebrity Traitors Uncloaked with her fellow castle-mates because she is currently filming The Gentlemen, her representative has confirmed.
The Love Island host's spokesperson told Metro that season three filming on the gangster drama was the only reason she did not record the post-match debrief with the rest of the cast. On the show, host Ed Gamble told BBC viewers that Jama was 'away filming' and 'sends her apologies', after Netflix confirmed she would return to the Guy Ritchie series.
Filming commitments and return to London
The Gentlemen began production on its third season this month, with filming underway in the UK and Morocco, as part of a new storyline centred on the construction of a casino in the Middle East. Jama plays the glamorous fixer Aisha, who made a brief appearance in the latest second season.
She is set to be back in London today to host her VIP Halloween party in the capital. A key topic of conversation at the annual bash is likely to be Jama's run as a Traitor at Ardross Castle, which was cut short in the final episode by her fellow contestant.
Banishment and reaction
The 32-year-old was ousted when Kenny decided to vote for her banishment, rather than tie the poll with Romesh Ranganathan, who went on to win the game alongside Sebastian Croft.
Speaking about Kenny's decision after the final, Jama said: 'I expected it. I knew that it was going to have to be one of us, and he was a lot more trusted at that time than me, and I felt like it would be selfish for me to expect him to try and save me when it was never going my way. Although I didn't expect Leigh-Anne [Pinnock] to vote for Romesh. If Kenny had known that, he could have jumped on that train as well.'
Reflecting on the collapse of the turret, after it had seemed impenetrable going into the final week, Jama added: 'I don't know how it crashed down so quickly. I feel like the game of James [Acaster] not wanting to lie, me just trying to keep the vibes happy and Kenny playing as a Faithful couldn't have lasted till the final. It was impossible. I think maybe if I was a bit more savage, things could have gone a different way.'
