James Blunt's reaction to a joke made by Romesh Ranganathan has provoked sympathy among viewers as this year's series of Celebrity Traitors drew to a close on Friday, October 30.
Following a series marked by hesitant villains and poor gameplay, Celebrity Traitors 2026 ramped up the drama in a chaotic final confrontation. The Faithful emerged victorious, as actor Sebastian Croft and comedian Romesh Ranganathan prevailed after eliminating James Blunt, King Kenny and Leigh-Anne Pinnock in the End Game.
Winners and Their Charities
The pair secured £41,500 each for their chosen charities - Choose Love for Croft and the Refugee Council for Ranganathan.
However, viewers who watched the Uncloaked finale on BBC One may have overlooked a poignant comment from James Blunt that left some fans experiencing a surge of sympathy for the singer and former Army Captain.
The Joke and the Reaction
During the programme, winner Romesh Ranganathan joked that audiences didn't see what host Claudia Winkleman said to him and Sebastian 'Bash' Croft. Romesh said: "As we're walking out after we'd won Claudia whispered to us thank god you got rid of Blunt. I was waiting to see that but for some reason it got snipped out, I don't know why."
The remark prompted laughter in the BBC studio and Claudia to cover her face with embarrassment at being made part of Romesh's clearly made-up story, but James appeared less than amused by the jibe when the camera panned to him.
Fans Notice James's Whispered Question
Viewers have now noticed the moment a glum-looking James whispered to Claudia, "Did you? Did you?" which was quietly captured on the show's microphones.
One fan who caught the sad question as the camera switched away from the You're Beautiful singer, said: "He's had too many people be openly nasty to him to worry it might be true. I felt sorry for him."
"I heard it too, poor guy," said another. "Showed he's a nice guy by that. Just normal like anyone with overthinking and insecurities."
"He is so sensitive bless him," added another.
James revealed he was 'happy' for the eventual winners the previous evening, despite being voted out by his fellow Faithful at the eleventh hour.
