Emmerdale actor Lawrence Robb has been eliminated from Strictly Come Dancing after making a mistake in his Ghostbusters-themed tango, bringing his journey with professional partner Jowita Przystał to an end.
The soap star failed to impress the judges during Halloween weekend, when remaining contestants took to the dancefloor for a spooktacular evening. His routine was not enough to keep him out of the first-ever triple dance-off on the BBC programme, where he performed again against Bethany Antonia and Jaime Winstone.
Following an error during his performance, the judging panel chose to eliminate Lawrence and Jowita, closing their time together in the competition.
James Jordan backs judges' decision
Former professional dancer James Jordan has weighed in on the latest departure. Speaking to DailyRecord via WhichBingo, he supported the judges' choice to send Lawrence home, though he believes Jowita was 'stitched up'.
He commented: "Lawrence made a big mistake, and even if he hadn't made the mistake and danced it right, it would have been a toss-up between him and Bethany going. There was no way Jaime was going to go. She was clearly the best out of those three. I also think Jowita was a bit stitched up. Everyone else has got brilliant dramatic songs, and she gets Ghostbusters, so what was the poor girl supposed to do? It was always going to be cringe."
Jaime Winstone out with injury
While Jaime may have escaped another dance-off, BBC viewers will not see her perform this coming weekend, as the actress has been compelled to sit out due to sustaining an injury, reports the Daily Star.
Breaking the news via a statement on Instagram, Jaime revealed: "I am absolutely devastated not to be dancing this weekend due to a torn abdominal muscle. I am in considerable pain, and my doctors have advised complete rest to give my body the best possible chance to heal. As frustrating as it is, I have to put my health first and follow their advice to step away from dancing this week. I love every moment of dancing and performing with Carlos, and I am praying for a speedy recovery so that I can continue this magical journey. I want to thank everyone for their incredible support so far. It means more than you know. Wishing everyone on the show all the luck, love, and strength for Saturday night, and I hope to be back on that dance floor very soon. With love, Jaime."
Fans and celebrities quickly sent messages of encouragement. Delta Goodrem said: "Ahhhh, sending all the healing energy, beautiful Jaime, the same way you gave me so much love and support!!!! Heal and rest, get better. We come back fighting!!xxx" Dani Dyer wrote: "We love you so much." Meanwhile, Shirley Ballas commented: "We wish you a speedy recovery. Take care of yourself, health first."
Strictly Come Dancing airs Saturday November 7 on BBC One from 6:30pm.
