Loose Women viewers were surprised on Tuesday when Janet Street-Porter returned to the ITV show after a two-week absence amid reports of a contract disagreement with bosses. The 77-year-old had been missing from the panel following claims that she and co-star Jane Moore were involved in a dispute over ITV's new PAYE-only contracts policy.
The reported row stemmed from HMRC's off-payroll working rules, which require presenters to be treated as employees rather than using a 'corporate veil' to claim independent status. A source told MailOnline that both Janet and Jane were 'furious' about the changes, which could affect their work across different companies.
Fans took to X, formerly Twitter, to react to Janet's return. One user wrote: 'All set to get on with jobs in the garden, but then I see @The_Real_JSP is back on #LooseWomen. I'll put the kettle on instead. Good to see you back Janet!' Another commented: 'Yay JSP is back #loosewomen.'
An ITV spokesperson said: 'We don't comment on individual cases but ITV ensures that it complies with and follows all HMRC guidance and legislation.' A representative for Janet told Express.co.uk: 'Janet loves the show and has not left, she is just resolving an ongoing contractual disagreement.'
