Jane McDonald Fights Back Tears Over Emotional Fortune in Japan
Jane McDonald moved to tears by Japanese fortune

Television personality Jane McDonald was visibly moved, fighting back tears during a classic episode of her popular travel series, after receiving a poignant prediction about her future.

An Emotional Fortune Reading

While filming Jane McDonald: Lost in Japan for Channel 5, the former cruise ship singer took part in a traditional Japanese custom. She was given an O-mikuji, a paper strip that reveals one's fortune.

With clear nervousness, Jane asked her tour guide, 'Is there anything bad in there?' The guide cautiously warned her that the fortune could contain some negative elements but was quick to reassure the star that any potential misfortune could be easily remedied.

A Heartfelt On-Screen Reaction

Upon unfolding the paper and reading her daily horoscope, Jane was overcome with emotion. She shared the beautiful sentiment with viewers, stating, 'Wow. I feel as if I was strongly on the spring fields with my family, so comfortable.'

Struggling to hold back tears, she continued, 'Wow, that is quite emotional, actually, isn't it?' The fortune further promised that she could 'realise almost everything as if you could drive easily on a downhill road' and encouraged her to 'work hard and believe, and you will be successful just like grass grows thanks to the rain heaven gives.'

Clearly touched, Jane expressed, 'This is just so, so beautiful,' before seeking confirmation, 'So this is good luck?'

Relief and Cultural Connection

The tour guide confirmed it was indeed a good luck fortune. Jane responded with a sigh of relief, admitting, 'Thank goodness for that, I was a bit worried about that.'

The segment concluded with a heartfelt moment as Jane thanked her guide for the enriching cultural experience with a warm and genuine embrace.

Elsewhere in the episode, which is a repeat airing, Jane immersed herself in other Japanese traditions. She tried her hand at the delicate art of origami and even bravely attempted sumo wrestling.

The singer also found time to showcase her vocal talents, visiting a local karaoke bar where she and other participants joyfully belted out classic tunes, including the anthem 'I Will Survive'.

A repeat of this emotional episode of Jane McDonald: Lost in Japan airs on Channel 5 this Sunday at 10am.
