James Blunt reveals Romesh's generous charity donation

Singer James Blunt has revealed that comedian Romesh Ranganathan donated to his chosen charity, Blue Marine Foundation, after the Celebrity Traitors final. Winning pair Romesh and Sebastian 'Bash' Croft split the £83,000 prize money between their two charities, Choose Love and the Refugee Council.

Romesh's generous gesture

Speaking on Hits Radio, James said: "Romesh is a very, very, sweet human being, and I promise he and I get on very, very, well." When asked if he donated some of the winning prize money to his charity of choice, Blunt added: "He has done."

Blunt continued: "I was going to save that for a conversation I was having with him, but you know, if you're going to mention it, he absolutely has. It's called Blue Marine Foundation."

Final roundtable drama

James also reflected on the moment the most Faithful Traitor, James Acaster, exposed himself during the penultimate roundtable, before being banished. James said that Acaster had been caught in a lie about the perfume bottle which was used to murder Ross Kemp.

As the final four – YouTube star King Kenny, singer and actor Sebastian 'Bash' Croft, singer James Blunt and comedian Romesh – went head to head, the Faithful were still adamant that a Traitor was lurking amongst them. After a tense vote-off, Kenny was banished from the castle. Bash, Romesh and James all believed that there was still a Traitor in the castle. The third vote-off saw Bash and Romesh vote for Blunt, leaving him stunned.

Blunt on the interrogation

Speaking to the BBC, Blunt said: "He didn't fall on his sword. That's what you saw, that's what you feel, but he didn't. You didn't see the full extent of the interrogation. It was heavy in there, and it was clear-cut. He was pinned to a post. We got him. We really, really got him."

He added: "I think how that played out hasn't really been revealed to you, but he didn't just say, 'Oh, guys, you got me'." He went on to say of the editing of the show: "There are elements [of the show] where I was screaming at the screen for a different reason than you."

James also revealed that he only went on the show to promote his new material and wasn't too bothered about going along with the game. He disclosed: "We all get paid the same, whether you're there for day one or day 23. So for most of the time, I was trying to… Get the hell out of dodge. But no one was killing me, and no one was banishing me."

The Celebrity Traitors finale attracted its highest average overnight audience yet, with 11.2 million viewers tuning in for Friday's dramatic conclusion. The episode also recorded a peak audience of 11.6 million on BBC One, the highest of the series, alongside a 62.9 per cent share of viewers, according to the BBC.
