Jaime Winstone has been ruled out of Strictly Come Dancing's week seven live show after suffering a torn abdominal muscle. The actress will not perform this Saturday (November 7), with doctors advising complete rest.
The announcement came on Wednesday (November 4) via a Strictly spokesperson, who said: "Due to injury, Jaime Winstone has been advised by doctors to rest and, as a result, she will not dance in this weekend's Strictly Come Dancing."
Bye through to next week
The spokesperson confirmed: "In line with the rules of the show, Jaime and Carlos will receive a bye through to next week when it is hoped they will be able to dance again. We wish Jaime the very best as she continues her recovery."
Jaime and her professional partner Carlos Gu had been saved by the judges after landing in the dance-off for the third time since the BBC One contest began in September.
Statement from Jaime
In her own statement, Jaime said: "I am absolutely devastated not to be dancing this weekend due to a torn abdominal muscle. I am in considerable pain, and my doctors have advised complete rest to give my body the best possible chance to heal. As frustrating as it is, I have to put my health first and follow their advice to step away from dancing this week."
She added: "I love every moment of dancing and performing with Carlos, and I am praying for a speedy recovery so that I can continue this magical journey." Jaime also thanked fans for their support, saying: "I want to thank everyone for their incredible support so far. It means more than you know. Wishing everyone on the show all the luck, love and strength for Saturday night and I hope to be back on that dance floor very soon. With love, Jaime."
Historic three-couple dance-off
Last weekend's results show marked the first time in Strictly's 22-year history that three couples were forced to dance again to stay in the competition. The change was announced ahead of the Halloween special on Saturday (October 31), with the three couples with the lowest combined judges' scores and public votes facing elimination.
Emmerdale star Lawrence Robb and his partner Jowita Przystal were eliminated after the three-couple dance-off against Jaime and Carlos, as well as Bethany Antonia and Nancy Xu in Sunday's (November 1) results show.
