ITV daytime programming was thrown into disarray on the morning of 4 November 2026 after a power outage at the broadcaster's studios forced Lorraine and This Morning off air, while Good Morning Britain experienced several technical difficulties of its own.
Lorraine Kelly was the first to reveal the disruption, announcing on social media that her show would not air as usual. Lorraine normally broadcasts from 9.30am until 10am, followed by This Morning from 10am until 12.30pm, when Loose Women takes over.
On-air announcements
Good Morning Britain host Ed Balls told viewers expecting to tune into Lorraine: "There has been a 'pop' at This Morning, so there's no show. We're going to be here until 10, which is most exciting."
Susanna then added that from 10am, fans would be able to tune into the 'best bits' from This Morning over the years. Good Morning Britain continued as normal, with Andi Peters making a joke about 'paying the bill for Ben and Cat'.
Power outage details
Lorraine Kelly revealed she was on the way to work when she was told there was a power outage and her show could not run. Taking to social media, she said: "Hello there, I'm on my way to work, but there's been a little bit of a hoo-ha. There's a power outage at the studio, so my show won't be on today. But you can still watch GMB."
She added: "They're going to fix it around 11 o'clockish. So, This Morning will still be on as well, just a bit later. It's a bit of a shame. I was really looking forward to Sharleen Spiteri from Texas, but we shall reschedule, and it'll all be fine. I will see you tomorrow!"
Technical issues and impact
Whilst it was originally planned for This Morning to be delayed, it has seemingly now been confirmed that best bits from This Morning will air instead. There has yet to be any news on whether Loose Women will return.
During the morning, Good Morning Britain also had technical issues when the show went to a break and no adverts were shown, with the ITV logo displayed instead of the usual adverts. Susanna said: "We do have to say sorry to some of our viewers who have been affected by technical issues during our ad break. Frankly, who knows what might happen between now and 10! It's a kind of rollercoaster, isn't it?"
In another incident, Susanna was mid-speaking when the show cut to adverts. After the break, This Morning aired with the best bits from previous shows, with hosts Cat and Ben standing in the studio but a sign saying 'this programme is pre-recorded' seen on screen.
