Hilaria Baldwin has admitted that people once viewed her marriage to husband Alec Baldwin as 'ridiculous', even comparing the pair's union to 'a bad SNL sketch.'
The yoga guru, 42, insists their unlikely romance has stood the test of time because they embrace their differences and prioritize regular date nights amid the chaos of raising seven children.
'Take a 27-year-old yoga instructor married to a rich and famous older man - it sounds ridiculous. It sounds like a bad SNL sketch,' Hilaria told the Daily Mail of her relationship with the Hollywood actor, 68.
'It worked out luckily, but we poke fun at each other in our family all the time,' she continued. 'I think people expect that Alec wanted somebody he could boss around, and we're on the same level together.'
The Dancing With The Stars alum spoke to the Daily Mail at an event celebrating her Spotlight magazine cover at NYC's One Art Space gallery, where she also opened up about how she and the 30 Rock star keep their marriage thriving despite their famously chaotic home life.
Date Nights and Differences
'We take a lot of time for date nights,' she explained. 'We've been traveling a lot for work recently but we try to have a lot of date nights.'
And according to Hilaria, their evenings together are surprisingly low-key. 'That usually involves dinner. He loves a good dinner, we either go out or I cook and we usually end up chatting and catching each other up on our seven kids and our projects,' she shared.
'We just let each other be, and I think that's one of the reasons our relationship has gone on as long as it has, because we are polar opposites and so different.'
The mom of seven also reflected on the highs and lows the couple have weathered throughout their marriage.
'There's been so much chaos in our lives, so much of it wonderful, some horrible things but we've managed to figure it out,' she said.
The pair have long been candid about the impact their significant age gap has had on their relationship, with Hilaria recently revealing that she and Alec even sought therapy to help navigate it.
Alec Baldwin's Admiration
Alec, meanwhile, was equally glowing about his wife, insisting he knew she was 'the one' from the moment they met.
'I think anybody can see that. She's a very special person, she really is,' the actor gushed to the Daily Mail.
'When I met her, she was unknown; she wasn't a famous person. She was a hard worker and I really admired that. She's beautiful beyond measure, inside and out.'
The It's Complicated actor also praised Hilaria's latest magazine cover, saying her success comes as no surprise to him.
'My wife's success doesn't surprise me, because she's a very hard worker,' he explained. 'And this business is tough now, in terms of breaking in and staying there.'
Despite his decades-long career in Tinseltown, Alec admitted these days he would rather spend time at home with his family than chase more work projects.
'For me, I don't want to leave my home anymore. I want to stay home and do nothing and be with the kids,' he confessed.
'I love my kids, I love my family. I love to go to work. But I'm really happy when I'm at home with my family.'
Family Life
The happy couple are proud parents to Carmen, 12, Rafael, 10, Leonardo, 9, and Romeo, 8, Eduardo, 5, and Maria Lucia, 5, Ilaria, 3.
Alec is also dad to Ireland, 30, whom he shares with ex-wife Kim Basinger. The pair were married from 1993 to 2002.
Baldwin also became a grandfather in May 2023 after Ireland welcomed her first child, daughter Holland, with André Allen Anjos, also known as RAC. She is currently expecting her second child.
Elsewhere in the interview, Hilaria revealed that Alec - whom she wed in June 2012 - would happily welcome even more children into their already bustling household.
'Alec would have more children,' she laughed, before joking about their youngest daughter, Ilaria Catalina Irena Baldwin. 'My youngest is so naughty - I named her after me and I'm getting all the karma that comes with it.'
And while the couple's children have grown up in the spotlight, Hilaria said she would fully support them if they decided to follow their famous parents into showbusiness.
'I would definitely support my kids to have a future in showbusiness,' she said. 'They don't know anything different and they are curious about it.'
'As long as they're happy, I don't care,' the doting mom added.
One Art Space, the venue for Spotlight magazine's cover party, regularly hosts exhibitions and high-profile events attended by Manhattan's elite.
Last month, the gallery hosted the star-studded 'Chuck Connelly: Tribeca's Midnight Parade - When Art Runs Wild' event honoring the late artist. The exhibition was co-curated by Adrienne Connelly and MaryAnn Giella McCulloh.
