Fans of the hit drama High Potential are facing a longer wait for the third season, as ABC has made a significant change to its upcoming TV schedule. The network has decided to move the series, which stars Kaitlin Olson as a crime-solving single mother, from its usual slot to midseason.
Why the Delay?
ABC's senior vice president Ari Goldman explained the decision, stating: "We do not take lightly the move of High Potential to midseason, but I think this is a real opportunity to bridge through to the end of the year, to keep an uninterrupted run of episodes." The network hopes that a January start will prevent the weeks-long breaks that interrupted previous seasons during Christmas and major events.
What This Means for Viewers
Viewers will not see new episodes until the new year at the earliest, despite Season 2 ending on a dramatic cliffhanger with several mysteries unsolved. The show has proven hugely popular, earning a 98% rating on Rotten Tomatoes since its debut.
New Showrunners Take Over
New showrunners Lila and Nora Zuckerman will take over from Todd Harthan, who stepped down to focus on the upcoming Disney+ series Eragon. The sisters previously worked on crime drama Poker Face and have credits including Suits and Agents of Shield.
Episode Count Uncertain
The episode count for Season 3 remains undecided, though Goldman promised "a really full season" for the hit series. It could mean more episodes after Season 1 had 13 and Season 2 consisted of 18 in total.
