Gone series 2 confirmed: Eve Myles returns as DS Annie Cassidy

ITV has confirmed that the psychological crime drama Gone will return for a second series, with Eve Myles reprising her role as DS Annie Cassidy.

New Case and Cast Addition

In the new series, DS Cassidy will investigate a case in Bristol involving Ruth Manning, played by Keeley Hawes, a devoted paediatric surgeon hiding a "dark truth about a series of historical crimes."

The first series, which aired earlier this year, followed DS Cassidy as she investigated the disappearance of headmaster Michael Polly's wife, played by David Morrissey, who later becomes the prime suspect.

Fan Reaction and Cast Comments

Fans responded enthusiastically to the announcement on Instagram, with one commenting: "YES YES YES AND YES." Another wrote: "What a combination of Talent!! Holy s**t @teamevemyles25 I'm ecstatic!!!"

Eve Myles said: "I can't wait to get back to Annie! A very special project and character. I'm really excited to explore a new story with a brilliant cast!"

ITV's Director of Drama Polly Hill added: "We had a phenomenal response to Gone, which was a testament to George Kay's brilliant scripts, and we are delighted that George will bring the audience another series and a new case for Annie Cassidy."

Hill continued: "In series 2, Dr Ruth Manning is under the microscope, played by the wonderful Keeley Hawes. Once again, George's brilliant storytelling takes you into the heart of a family unravelling as Annie investigates a new case in another emotionally truthful and surprising story."

Critical Praise and Availability

Since its release earlier this year, Gone has received high praise from viewers, with one IMDb user calling it a "masterpiece drama" and another praising it as "One of 2026's standout dramas."

Gone is available to watch on ITVX.
