Kelvin Fletcher and his family were forced out of their 18th-century farmhouse in the Peak District after a fire left the property uninhabitable, but they hope to rebuild and return.
The former Emmerdale actor, his wife Liz and their four children have lived on the 120-acre farm in Wincle, Macclesfield, near the Peak District National Park, since 2021. Their daily lives are documented on ITV's Fletchers' Family Farm.
Fire destroys family home
In 2025, while the family of six were on holiday, a neighbour called to tell them their house was on fire. Kelvin described the moment on Lorraine: "It was the stuff of nightmares. Our neighbour called us. She was in a panic, and the fire was roaring."
When they returned, the house had been severely damaged by smoke and was no longer habitable. Insurance regulations meant the property had to remain untouched for months. Despite the damage, the family was grateful that no one, including their animals, was harmed in the blaze, and they have called it the "beginning of the next chapter".
Plans to move back in
In a previous episode, Liz said she wanted the family's next big project to be their old home so they could one day move back in. She said: "It'll be nice to put this energy and effort into the house now and build a home for the kids."
She revealed that the couple's twins have no recollection of living in the property and know it only as "the burnt house". She added: "Which is sad, really, but listen, one day we'll be able to move back in, and it'll just be their home."
Fletchers' Family Farm continues every Sunday at 11.30am on ITV and ITVX.
