After an 18-month absence, The Crow Girl has returned to television. The drama centres on DCI Jeanette Kilburn and forensic psychologist Dr Sophia Craven, who join forces when a deeply unsettling murder investigation begins. Their reunion uncovers long-hidden secrets and a deadly killer hiding within their community.
Somerset filming location
Bristol remains the principal filming location for the series, taking viewers from Castle Park to Queen Square and Welsh Back. But production teams also travelled further afield to capture beach scenes, choosing Brean in Somerset. Adapted from Erik Axl Sund's bestselling Swedish novels, the series trades Stockholm for the West Country, specifically Brean.
Crews filmed on the picturesque Brean Beach and alongside the rugged headland of Brean Down. While Somerset has better-known coastal spots such as Weston-super-Mare, Brean offers a quieter, more tranquil setting. The village has caravan parks and its own amusement park, yet the beach is the real draw.
Beach and headland
The seven-mile stretch of sand is one of the longest beaches in Europe, leaving plenty of room for dog-walkers, sunbathers, paddlers and holidaymakers. From the shoreline, Brean Down dominates the horizon. The 97-metre-high headland acts as a natural pier, jutting dramatically into the sea, and it was from this spot, where The Crow Girl was filmed, that visitors get sweeping views along the coast.
Visitors have praised the area on Tripadvisor. One wrote: "This has to be the nicest beach I've ever been to in the UK. The beach is immaculately clean. No rubbish at all." Another shared: "I recently visited Brean Beach and Down for a walk as part of a group, and I took my camera. I was totally blown away by the incredible views from the top of Brean Down and the incredible history at the fort."
"The beach was busy, and there was an ice cream van there, which was a lovely addition. Really worth a visit!" added the same visitor. Many people make the 1.5-mile walk along the natural pier to the summit, the very area where film crews were reportedly seen in the latter part of 2025.
Series details
The second series of The Crow Girl debuted on Paramount+ on 20 July 2026, following an alleged three-month filming schedule that began in November the previous year. Both seasons are now available to stream on the platform and can also be rented via Amazon Prime.
