Emmerdale's Sadie King (Patsy Kensit) has slept with Caleb Miligan (William Ash) behind Ruby's (Beth Cordingly) back, in a shock twist that leaves Sadie conflicted about her mission for Joe Tate (Ned Porteous).
Sadie's web of deception
Sadie, whose reputation for deception spans decades, was tasked by Joe to find something he can use against Caleb, who he holds responsible for Dawn's (Olivia Bromley) demise. Over recent weeks, Sadie has wormed her way into the Miligans' home, planted cameras and spun a web of deception, manipulating Caleb into thinking Ruby is an alcoholic, while convincing Ruby that her husband is controlling and abusive.
After spiking Ruby's drink during a recent visit to the pub, Sadie told Caleb that his wife had gone home with Ross Barton (Michael Parr). Caleb declared his relationship with Ruby at an end, and it turns out he spent the night with Sadie.
Caleb's regret and Sadie's change of heart
When Caleb found out that Ruby had not strayed with their daughter's ex, he was mortified. He urged Sadie to keep quiet, assuring her that he very much loves his wife. Sadie's demeanour changed, however, as she suggested that Caleb had been using her.
Following a showdown with Caleb, Sadie discreetly grabbed her camera and left Mill Cottage. But as she rendezvoused with Joe to confirm she had the evidence needed to destroy Caleb, she found herself conflicted, and it turns out she is starting to develop feelings for him. As a result, she resolved to withhold the evidence from Joe, claiming that she and Caleb didn't sleep together after all.
What happens next
In Wednesday's episode, Caleb urges Sadie to move out in light of their one night stand. The question remains whether she will do as she is told or use Caleb's betrayal as leverage to stay at Mill Cottage.
Elsewhere, Belle Dingle (Eden Taylor-Draper) notes groom Jordan's controlling manner following a meeting to organise his wedding, and invites bride-to-be Caz over to share her worries. Caz is horrified and assures Belle that she and Jordan are happy, firing Belle on the spot. Belle is shocked that she got the situation all wrong.
Emmerdale airs these scenes on Wednesday November 4 at 8pm on ITV1, or streams from 7am on ITVX or YouTube.
