Kim Tate (Claire King) has found an unlikely source of support in Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins) as she navigates her newly revealed relationship with her biological daughter, Thea Ramsden (Chelsea Edge).
After months of deception, Kim discovered that Thea was the daughter she gave up at birth, and that the young woman had orchestrated a revenge plot against her. The truth came out when Kim stabbed Thea in the abdomen, believing she had kidnapped Baby Tate. Fortunately, the wound was shallow and missed all major arteries, allowing Thea to recover.
Kim's Attempt to Make Amends
Once the truth was revealed, Kim wanted to make amends. The pair discussed what really happened when Kim gave Thea up, including being blackmailed by a police chief, and Thea decided to move on. However, Kim struggled to fully acknowledge the situation publicly, leaving Thea hurt when she avoided telling Mary Goskirk (Louise Jameson) the truth. After Thea left, Kim confessed everything to Mary, who suggested she had bridges to build.
Kim reached out to Thea, but Thea was determined to let her stew. In a surprising turn, Kim found herself telling the story to Charity, who proved supportive. Charity has her own experience with a child given up at birth and later forging a relationship: her son Ryan Stocks (James Moore). She advised Kim to persevere with Thea and not give up.
A Bold Public Declaration
Thea finally made contact, and Kim was overjoyed. However, Joe Tate (Ned Porteous) sensed something was off, given his familiarity with plots and schemes. Joe remained unconvinced that Thea had truly forgiven her mother, but Kim was too swept up in the reunion to care. In a bold move, she announced to the whole pub who Thea is.
Whatever Thea is up to, she managed to reunite Joe and Graham Foster (Andrew Scarborough) in their shared loathing of her. Together, they devised a plan that she needs to be carefully watched, leaving viewers to wonder whether they have her pegged.
