Belle prepares to visit Tom in hospital as he fights for his life following a brutal attack, while Cain and Sam clash over Samson's future. Elsewhere, Sadie proves she is far from finished with Caleb, and Kim takes a major step towards welcoming her newly discovered daughter Thea into the family.
Belle confronts Tom
Sam, Belle and Kammy prepare for Samson's return, but Charles arrives to tell Belle that Tom has been beaten up and is in a critical condition. Belle is furious when Cain admits he organised the attack. Sam receives a call that Samson assaulted someone and won't be coming home, and the room realises that Cain got Samson to attack Tom.
Sam accuses Cain of not caring about Samson, suggesting he and Moira never forgave him for hurting Matty. As their argument reaches a fever pitch, Sam attacks Cain, and Cain storms off as Sam starts to sob. The next day, Sam learns from Samson that the new charges could mean a long stretch in prison. Belle starts to feel paranoid about Tom's reaction, and Kammy tries calming her down with little success.
When Sam arrives, he insists that Cain and Moira should move out. Getting nowhere, Cain forces Belle, who is at breaking point, to make the decision. Belle explodes at Cain and Sam, then announces she is going to talk to Tom. At the hospital, Kammy calms Belle's nerves but is uncertain about letting her go in alone. Belle believes his presence would rile Tom up, so despite his objections, he agrees to give her ten minutes before sending help.
Kev gets a new job
Nicola is shocked by Laurel's implication that Kev might have feelings for her, but Nicola thinks nothing of it. Kev relays his version of events to Lewis, making clear he thinks there is a spark between him and Nicola too, leaving Lewis concerned.
Robert reluctantly gives Kev a shot at cooking some steaks. Impressed, Robert gives Kev a chance as the chef at the Smokehouse, despite Aaron's grievances. Lewis is proud of him, though Kev is sad to share the news with Nicola. When Nicola suggests one last cup of tea, Kev turns her down and both are a little heartbroken.
Sadie outsmarts Caleb
Joe holds Caleb's affair over his head, but Caleb tells him that Ruby would never believe him. Joe reminds him that she would believe Sadie. Caleb is miffed to see Sadie using his phone to finish deals, and she flirts with him, but is heartbroken when he offers to put a down payment on a flat for her in Banbury.
When Sadie urges him to stop assuming the worst of her, Caleb is left feeling guilty. Reluctantly, he agrees to help Sadie with some paperwork for Ruby's sake, but there is still a hint of sexual tension. Later, Ruby is furious that her client hasn't received their order and blames Sadie, who is at a loss for an explanation. When Ruby shows her the order list, Sadie realises Caleb has tampered with it.
As Caleb begins apologising to Sadie, Ruby bursts in, celebrating Sadie's handling of the situation. Caleb realises his plan has failed, while Ruby and Sadie are as close as ever. Scalding Caleb for his betrayal once they are alone, Sadie reveals she understood the order lists but just wanted to spend some time with him. Sadie seems to promise she won't cause any more complications, but as Caleb leaves, she watches the footage of their affair, not finished with him yet.
Kim welcomes Thea
Kim invites Thea to spend time together, but Thea is hurt when Kim is hesitant to tell Mary about their relationship. At Mary's suggestion, Kim tries reaching out to Thea. As she anxiously waits for Thea's response, Kim confides in Charity, who is shocked when Kim reveals Thea is her daughter. Charity urges Kim to stick with it, citing her own relationship with Ryan.
When Thea calls in to meet Kim, Kim is elated, but Joe is weary. At the Woolpack, Kim announces her relationship with Thea to the pub, much to Thea's quiet delight. Kim seems delighted to welcome Thea to the family, but Joe is colder than ever. As Kim and Thea leave, Joe and Graham agree they need to keep an eye on Thea.
At the Smokehouse, Aaron and Robert try reining Kev in, cautious of his enthusiasm. Robert is overjoyed when Serena invests ten grand from her savings into the smokehouse. Shortly after, Gabby is crushed from afar as Robert excitedly reveals their new sign, and Gabby is hurt by Kim's continuous cold reception when she turns down an invitation to spend time with her and Thomas.
