Eleanor Tomlinson: Hidden Talent, Famous Dad, New Thriller

Actress Eleanor Tomlinson is set to star as Amanda Blakefield in the new psychological drama The Fortune, airing on Channel 5. The four-part series, filmed across the North East, follows Amanda as her life is turned upside down after receiving a substantial inheritance from a stranger, much to the dismay of his family.

Hidden Talent

Although primarily an actress, the 34-year-old released a folk-inspired covers album titled Tales From Home with her brother Ross in 2018. Arranged by composer Anne Dudley, the album includes songs like I Can't Make You Love Me, Hushabye Mountain, and The Spinning Wheel. Tomlinson told Wonderland Magazine that the album was a result of encouragement from Poldark fans who admired her singing in the period drama.

Famous Parents

Acting runs in the Tomlinson family. Her mother, Judith Hibbert, a singer, appeared in Rainbow and The New Statesman. Her father, Malcolm Tomlinson, has featured in Peaky Blinders, Emmerdale, and Casualty, and works as a horse-racing commentator. Eleanor decided to pursue acting after watching her father on the set of The Bill.

Being Bullied

Balancing school and acting led to bullying from peers. Tomlinson told the Mail on Sunday's You magazine that she was accused of being too posh and faced psychological warfare. She eventually dropped out of sixth-form to focus on her career.

The Fortune airs Tuesday June 2 on Channel 5 at 9pm.
