EastEnders fans convinced Sean Slater is Amy's real father in DNA twist
EastEnders fans sure Sean Slater is Amy's real father

EastEnders fans are convinced Sean Slater is in for a huge revelation after his permanent return to Walford, with many claiming Amy Branning has 'never felt quite right' as a Branning.

Actor Robert Kazinsky first appeared in Albert Square as troubled Sean in 2006 before departing three years later following a failed marriage to Roxy Mitchell (Rita Simons), although he briefly returned in 2019, 2021, and 2022.

Sean's Return and the Search for Amy

During Monday's (November 2) trip to Walford, Sean was reunited with his family, including his young niece Lily (Lillia Turner), as the Slaters grieve the loss of Zoe (Michelle Ryan). He also spearheaded efforts to locate missing Amy Branning (Ellie Dadd), who has fled with groomer Craig Ingram (Matthew James-Bailey).

Teaming up with former romantic rival Jack Branning (Scott Maslen), the duo searched the streets as concern mounted for Amy, who was intending to use a £100k inheritance to begin a fresh life with the corrupt police officer, far from Walford. At The Vic, Sean received comfort from his mother, Jean Slater (Gillian Wright), who suggested he should protect himself from the distress of becoming embroiled in Amy's disappearance.

Sean's Emotional Vow to Roxy

Sean, who revealed he had returned for Zoe Slater's funeral, but his flight from Brazil had been delayed, became emotional as he recalled how elated he was when Amy was born and expressed his determination to honor the pledge he made to Roxy that he would always protect her daughter.

As devoted followers of the soap will recall, Sean enjoyed a romance with Roxy, and despite numerous obstacles, they wed and anticipated a bright future together. Roxy subsequently gave birth to a baby girl, naming her Amy in honour of her sister Ronnie's child, leaving the pair overjoyed.

However, their marriage collapsed spectacularly when it emerged on Christmas Day in 2008 that Jack was Amy's biological father following a brief affair with Roxy. This revelation prompted Sean's dramatic departure and the breakdown of their relationship.

Fans Question the 2008 DNA Result

When Sean returned to the programme after Roxy's tragic death, he confessed he'd never moved on from her and wished to see Amy. Over the years, Sean has maintained a powerful paternal bond with Amy, and EastEnders audiences remain convinced he is her biological father and claim that devious Roxy fabricated the DNA results 18 years ago.

On X, one viewer posted: "After today's #EastEnders episode, I'd kinda live for the DNA test from 2008 being wrong, and Amy being Sean's daughter. Amy has never quite felt right being a Branning imo, and this could open up some new material for Ellie Dadd once this storyline with Craig is over."

Another contributed: "She's never felt like Jack's daughter, but then neither has Penny. He isn't a great dad tbh. Also, why do they almost never lean into her Mitchell side? ! Phil would find her within a day tops! !" A third suggested: "I was thinking this as she looks more like him and makes Jean her grandmother and Stacey her aunt and Lily her cousin, so that might make for some interesting storytelling," while another contributed: "I'd love her to be a fully fledged Slater."

"AMY IS SEAN'S DAUGHTER! I'VE BEEN SAYING IT FOR AGES! IT'S ABOUT TO BE THE BIGGEST EASTENDERS PLOT TWIST #EastEnders", one viewer declared.

EastEnders airs Monday to Thursday on BBC One and iPlayer.
