EastEnders: Amy kidnapped by Craig as Jack races to save her

EastEnders aired a dramatic turn on Monday night as Craig Ingram (Matthew James Bailey) drove Amy Mitchell (Ellie Dadd) away from the Square after she agreed to run away with him. Craig has been intent on getting Amy's inheritance, but to access it he needed a signature, which she sought from Max Branning (Jake Wood).

In the episode, Amy confessed her relationship with Craig to Max, explaining how Craig had defended her during the Joel ordeal. After Max agreed to sign the paperwork, he informed Jack Branning (Scott Maslen) about the relationship, only to learn that Craig had been dismissed from the police force for sexual misconduct. The warning came too late, as Amy and Craig drove off while Jack attempted to chase them.

Craig's Dark Side Emerges

Matthew James Bailey, who plays Craig, told Metro that his character is using Amy's love and the inheritance as a means of escape. He said: 'Craig uses her love against her and uses that inheritance as his escape method. He's like, this is it. This is how I can get out of this situation. No one's going to find me. I'm going to have a massive amount of money that isn't even mine. And he's dragged Amy along for the ride for that as well.'

Bailey added: 'I think Amy is in extreme danger. You've seen this charm from Craig, but what you're going to see in these future episodes is this really dark side of Craig come out and show his true colours, because I don't think he can hide it anymore. It's been manifesting itself in such a horrible way. The audience will see a really horrible side of Craig that they've not yet seen.'

What Happens Next in EastEnders

Spoilers for Tuesday, October 27 reveal that Jack is distraught over Amy's departure and launches a search with the help of his fellow officers. He worries about the stress on Denise Fox (Diane Parish), so he and the family decide to keep her in the dark despite her growing suspicions.

As Jack and Max investigate, Max receives the money Amy promised him and pays off Cindy Beale (Michelle Collins). Determined to bring Amy home safely, Jack and Max break into Craig's flat, with Jack becoming increasingly convinced that Craig is responsible for Amy's recent behaviour.
