Strictly Come Dancing star Delta Goodrem has pledged to deliver her best as she returns to the dancefloor this weekend following a rib injury that forced her to withdraw from Icons Week. The singer made the promise during an appearance on spin-off show It Takes Two, where she admitted she has been experiencing "waves of tears" after receiving overwhelming support.
Returning After Injury
Delta had to sit out Icons Week while recuperating at home with a rib injury. She will make her comeback on Saturday, October 24, alongside professional partner Kai Widdrington, aiming to maintain their leaderboard position.
Speaking on Wednesday's edition of It Takes Two, Delta told roving reporter Abi Clarke: "I'm very, very grateful to be back. Kai's been so amazing every day just checking in and working together at how we can make this happen but still heal and do the best that we can."
Emotional Support and Dance Plans
Reflecting on the messages she has received, Delta added: "Everyone has been so lovely and so kind and beautiful and all the messages, I've been going in waves of tears all week. Very happy to be here."
Kai revealed the pair will perform a Rumba, describing it as the "slowest of Latin dances, but also one of the most difficult, especially for the female dance partners." Their routine will be set to Celine Dion's It's All Coming Back To Me Now.
Delta made a clear pledge ahead of the performance, saying: "It's the ballroom, we've got to go out and deliver and I'll definitely try my best this week." She also shared that her mother in Australia had offered some "good commentary," adding: "She wasn't thrilled with my arms."
Group Dance and Guest Appearance
Later in the episode, presenter Ellie Taylor teased this week's group dance, saying: "Let's just say, it's a little bit sporty and will make you sweat." Choreographer Lizzie Gough revealed the fitness-themed routine will include skipping and running machines, explaining: "We wanted to throw everything that you would find in a gym, into their routine."
Mel C, known as 'Sporty Spice,' will join the professional dancers for the performance. She commented: "They are incredible and they make me up my game. But also, it's quite intimidating."
Strictly: It Takes Two airs Monday to Friday at 6:30 PM on BBC Two and BBC iPlayer. Strictly Come Dancing airs on Saturday nights at 6:30 PM on BBC One and BBC iPlayer, followed by the Sunday results show.
