Fans of BBC One's 'Death in Paradise' have expressed disappointment after the latest episode shifted the setting from Saint Marie to Antigua. The 15th series, which continues to follow DI Mervin Wilson (Don Gilet) solving murders on the fictional Caribbean island, saw a change of scenery that left some viewers unimpressed.
In the episode aired on Monday (March 9), Mervin was kidnapped by his brother Solomon (Daniel Ward) in Antigua after stumbling upon a crime scene. Commissioner Selwyn Patterson (Don Warrington) and officer Naomi Thomas (Shantol Jackson) travelled to Antigua to investigate, with Sterling Fox (Trieve Blackwood-Cambridge) making a return as a trainee officer.
However, many viewers took to social media to criticise the episode, with one writing on X: "We're only 15 minutes in and I already think this is the worst episode ever." Another commented: "Is Mervin spending the entire episode tied to a chair?" Others described the instalment as "awful" and questioned the scriptwriting.
Despite the backlash, some fans were emotionally invested, with one admitting: "Mervin about to have me bawling my eyes out at 9:36pm on a random Monday." The episode also featured the return of Don Warrington as Selwyn Patterson, following his apparent departure at the end of series 14.
