Next week's Coronation Street may have fewer episodes than usual, but the drama is set to be as intense as ever. Debbie Webster (Sue Devaney) brings together her closest friends for a project ahead of Carl Webster's (Jonathan Howard) 40th birthday party, but what begins as a light-hearted arts and crafts session soon becomes serious, leaving several attendees facing major decisions.
Debbie's Angels Face Tough Conversations
In a special episode on Monday, November 9, Debbie gathers Abi Webster (Sally Carman), Bernie Winter-Alahan (Jane Hazlegrove), Sally Metcalfe (Sally Dynevor), Glenda Shuttleworth (Jodie Prenger) and Christina before dumping a plastic crate full of photographs onto the floor, explaining that she wants to make a photobook for Carl's birthday. Though initially a fun bonding experience, past tensions quickly rise among the women, and conversations heat up over previous traumas, putting the celebratory mood in jeopardy. The day ends with the air cleared and the women united, but several are left with enormous decisions to make and uncomfortable situations to navigate.
Kit's Collapse and Bethany's Secret
On Tuesday, November 10, as Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) attends a lonely chemotherapy session, Sarah Platt (Tina O'Brien) turns to Bernie, upset at the distance Kit is keeping from her. Bernie reassures her that he's keeping everybody at arm's length. Later, Sarah finds Kit collapsed outside the tram station and gets him home, where he breaks down, leaving her shaken at how fragile he has become. The following day, at the hospital, Sarah and Kit see Bethany Platt (Lucy Fallon) leaving the maternity ward, and Kit learns about Bethany's pregnancy, just before Sarah asks him to move back home so they can be a happy family again.
Carla's Factory Sale and Brody's Guilt
Carla Connor-Swain (Alison King) turns to Lisa Connor-Swain (Vicky Myers), aware that her insurance likely won't pay out after deciding to sell Underworld. Brody Michaelis (Ryan Mulvey) is sickened as Idris Nazir (Junade Khan) acts sympathetic to Carla's plight, and after finding a tearful Sally, he learns Carla is selling the factory. Brody then threatens Idris that he'll tell Carla the truth. Later, Idris corners Brody, promising that when he owns the factory, the workers will all get their jobs back. Carla reiterates to Sean Tully (Antony Cotton) how heartbroken she is about losing the factory and being forced to lay off the workforce.
Other Storylines Unfold
Christina Boyd (Amy Robbins) visits Richie Parkinson (Nathan Sussex) in prison, spinning a tale of a brother in a similar situation to gain his trust, while George Shuttleworth (Tony Maudsley) worries she's playing a dangerous game. Debbie announces plans to retire, signing the hotel over to Ronnie Bailey (Vinta Morgan) and asking Ryan Connor (Ryan Prescott) to act as his second in command. Tracy Barlow (Kate Ford) hires Amy Barlow (Elle Mulvaney), meaning she'll need to fire Mary Taylor (Patti Clare), who lies about having another job and bids a tearful goodbye. At the Platt's, Jodie Ramsey's (Olivia Frances-Brown) phone rings with a threatening call, though David and Shona wonder if she's behind it. Tim Metcalfe (Joe Duttine) receives a call from social services clearing Sally of any wrongdoing and confirming Lucy's return the next week, leaving Sally to worry about what that will bring.
