Coronation Street fans are convinced they have worked out the identity of newcomer Marco Rhodes' real mother, with many predicting a major DNA twist involving Glenda Shuttleworth.
The tattoo artist, played by Will Teasdale, made his debut on the ITV soap in September as Summer Spellman's new love interest. Although the pair did not get off to the best of starts, a romance quickly blossomed between them.
Marco's Prison Ordeal
Things have not been plain sailing for the couple recently, as Marco was arrested. He was acting as a getaway driver while wearing an electronic tag and was denied bail because of his previous offences, leading to a prison sentence.
A devastated Summer has vowed to stick by Marco and enlisted the help of solicitors and engaged couple Adam Barlow and Alya Nazir. In prison, Marco has also become Gary Windass' new cell mate, while prison guard Ross Wilkes has set his sights on him and is out to make his life hell.
Fans Predict DNA Twist
In Tuesday's episode, it was time for Marco's appeal hearing, in which he was hopeful he would be released. However, Adam ended up getting into a fight with Daniel Osbourne before heading to court, causing him to miss the hearing and leaving Marco in prison.
Fans now reckon the soap could throw a major DNA twist into the works, with some predicting Marco could be related to someone on the cobbles. One person on a Coronation Street Facebook fan page said: "Hope we get more of a backstory to Marco." Another predicted: "Glenda needs a decent storyline, make her Marco's biological mum," referring to Glenda Shuttleworth.
Glenda's Cobbles History
A third fan chimed in: "I love that, she could have put him for adoption..." Echoing their thoughts, another viewer wrote: "Yes it's about time Glenda has a good storyline!!"
Glenda made her first appearance on the soap in 2022 as the daughter of the late Archie and sister to George. Since then, she has become a firm favourite and has settled into Weatherfield life, working as a barmaid at The Rovers Return alongside Sean Tully and owners Eva Price and Ben Driscoll.
