Coronation Street fans believe a prisoner could escape and terrorise Sally Metcalfe in a Halloween showdown on the ITV soap next week. Spoilers confirm Sally is left scared after hearing strange sounds and receiving silent phone calls, prompting her to turn to neighbours Carla and Lisa Connor-Swain.
Sally fears prisoner Mick Michaelis has escaped again and could be targeting her. Despite reassurance, the unsettling events continue, and Sally eventually lashes out, hitting a mystery person over the head with a vase as they creep up behind her.
Fans suspect Richie's escape
Viewers think the person behind the terror is Richie, the cousin of Sally's husband Tim Metcalfe. Richie is currently imprisoned after being accused of murdering his wife Rachel. Both Richie and his daughter Lucy claim it was self-defence, though hints suggest Lucy may have been involved.
Fans have speculated that Richie will escape and plot to flee with Lucy, and that they might attack or harass Sally before leaving. One theory read: "Maybe it's Lucy's dad who's escaped from prison and he and Lucy are going to escape Weatherfield together. But not before scaring Sally or worse."
Owen Armstrong's return
The speculation follows the announcement that former character Owen Armstrong is returning after nearly 11 years. Actor Ian Puleston-Davies is reprising his role, with scenes set to air in January 2027.
Owen moves back to the Cobbles to live with his daughter Izzy Armstrong amid trouble with his grandson Jake. It's teased that Owen is far from impressed by Gary Windass's behaviour, blaming Gary for Izzy and Jake's drama, which could spell trouble for Gary's business at the builders yard.
Commenting on his return, Ian said: "I can’t wait to pick up where I left off ten years ago! It’s brilliant to be back and to get stuck into a cracking storyline. Owen’s back and he’s still angry!" Coronation Street airs weeknights at 8:30pm on ITV1 and ITV X.
