Coronation Street fans are convinced that a recent podcast has given away a major Christmas Day storyline, as Bethany Platt's baby secret threatens to explode on the ITV soap.
In an episode of the cast podcast On The Sofa, actors Jack P Shepherd and Ben Price spoke to co-host Colson Smith about the festive episode. Listeners claimed the pair teased a classic Christmas, with details including the Bistro being closed for the day, while some characters would spend Christmas there.
They did not name who would be present, but implied it was significant. It is already known that Idris Nazir and Leanne Battersby will be there, as confirmed to The Mirror by Idris actor Junade Khan.
Fans Speculate on the Bistro Gathering
Nick would likely spend the day with the Platts as well, though not necessarily. Some fans believe the whole family could be there, and it might be the moment a big twist occurs. With Bethany's baby secret looming, viewers have wondered if this is when the truth comes out.
One fan suggested they had seen behind-the-scenes footage from filming that indicated Ryan Connor was involved. Bethany, who is Ryan's love interest, is pregnant with Kit Green's baby after a fling with Kit, the ex of her mother Sarah Platt.
Theory Points to Public Revelation
Some viewers are speculating that Christmas will be the moment Bethany and Kit's fling is exposed. Posting online, one fan theorised: "Last Monday, Jack (David) & Ben (Nick) revealed to Colson (aka Craig) on their podcast that they filmed Christmas Day and it's the classic 'Christmas in the Bistro, Nick closes it and then it's who's there'"
"So I bet that's when Sarah & Ryan find out about Bethany & Kit's one night stand & Kit being the dad of Bethany's baby." A fan replied: "Yep sounds on the money that theory."
A third fan commented: "I feel based on recent interview and drama potential of the ticking time bomb of Bethany pregnancy that Bethany will continue the pregnancy. I can see the big paternity reveal happening at either Christmas or after baby is born at a Christening at big public revelation like at Lily christening it was discovered David was behind Nick car 'accident'."
Sarah has discovered her daughter is pregnant but has no idea Kit is the dad, and suspects it is Ryan. Ryan is not the dad, and he is soon about to learn Bethany is pregnant.
Coronation Street airs weeknights at 8:30pm on ITV1 and ITV X.
