Coronation Street fans fear they have spotted 'foreshadowing' about what lies ahead for Carla Connor-Swain after she discovered her beloved Underworld factory had been ruined.
The factory boss is unaware that Idris Nazir is working to make her lose her livelihood so he can take over the business. Idris recently acquired a share in Speed Daal and became a business partner with his girlfriend, Leanne Battersby.
Carla, who first gained majority ownership of Underworld when her husband Paul Connor died in 2007, recently admitted her business was in decline but was doing all she could to keep it afloat.
Idris sabotages Carla's deal
After a brief clash with Carla over car parking last week, Idris told Leanne he had been eyeing up the business. Leanne suggested she could not see a time when Carla would not be in charge of Underworld.
During Monday's (November 2) visit to Weatherfield, Idris overheard Carla telling her wife, Lisa Connor-Swain, about an important meeting at the hotel. At the meeting, Carla and Michael Bailey were pleased with how things were going, but when the client went to the loo, Idris stopped him and told him Carla could not be trusted and was not the sort of person to do business with.
His words appeared to work, as the client returned with a cautious attitude and the deal did not go ahead. Carla later told Lisa she would have to sacrifice her workers' Christmas bonus to keep the factory afloat.
Sprinkler sabotage devastates factory
In Tuesday's (November 3) episode, things got worse. After Carla decided to take control by breaking the news to devastated staff that she was struggling, Idris met Brody Michaelis at the rear of the factory and, handing him a lighter, told him he had a job for him.
Brody let himself into No.4 and stole foster mum Sally Metcalfe's set of factory keys, then headed to Underworld and let himself in, unaware that Leanne was watching. Inside, the teen grabbed a lighter and held it near the smoke alarm to activate the sprinkler system before escaping through the back door.
Sally raised the alarm to Carla, who rushed over. As water rushed out of the building, a devastated Carla went inside, followed by Lisa, to find all her stock damaged and water flowing and dripping throughout the entire building.
Fans worry about Carla's past
Before the heartbreak, fans became concerned during a scene in the Rovers. Lisa told Carla: "Not to sure about this lunchtime drinking, you know," to which Carla replied: "Oh, don't worry. Won't make a habit of it."
Sharing the scene on X (formerly Twitter), @sadlatimer said: "icl lines like this always make me worried they're foreshadowing something bc we all know how carla's dealt with things in the past…" @CConnorSwain replied: "I'm so scared they're going to revisit her past with alcohol or psychosis. They were finally happy." @DancerEmma_ commented: "Literally thought the exact same… and the spoilers saying shes 'vulnerable' oh gawd." @Camzsbi added: "She's on her second kidney... she can't."
