Coronation Street fans are convinced the ongoing land sale storyline will confirm a secret murder. After repeated discussions about some land being up for grabs, with works possibly planned there in the future, fans think a body will be found. A missing character could be buried there, according to a sinister new viewer theory.
Missing Character Theory
With Cassie Plummer not seen or heard from since her exit earlier this year, fans are very worried that she may have been killed by Ross Wilkes. He was the last person to see her, and sped off with her in his car. Amid hints something has happened to her, fans now wonder if when any digging occurs on the land being spoken about, there might be a grim discovery. The speculation is that Ross killed Cassie and buried her there all those months ago.
Fan Reactions Online
A fan predicted online: "The land sale for the new Weatherfield High School featured a lot Friday night on Corrie. Wonder if Ross buried Cassie's body there and it'll be found when they start digging?" One viewer replied: "Wow that would be a great twist," as another said: "Good point, they'd not normally focus so heavily on something like that if it wasn't to drop a huge future storyline." A fan also said: "She's buried on the land that Ken's son is banging on about I expect."
Some fans were not so sure though, given Corrie and Cassie actress Claire Sweeney stated the door had been left open for a future comeback. A fan posted: "Hope Cassie isnt dead, would love her to return." Another added: "I can't make my mind up if Cassie is dead or not, strange she's never mentioned. Mind you neither is Alina who still must be busy with the flooded house."
Plot and Return Details
A third fan posted: "I don't think Cassie is dead," while a fourth pointed out: "Thought they'd left the door open for Cassie to return." As it stands, the plot is focused on Idris Nazir trying to buy the land, while school teacher Daniel Osbourne is keen to stop the council selling it, wanting to keep it for the school.
It comes following the show announcing that former character Owen Armstrong is returning after a decade away. Actor Ian Puleston-Davies is reprising his role, and there's set to be trouble for Gary Windass. Owen decides to move back to the Cobbles to live with his daughter Izzy Armstrong, amid trouble with Owen's young grandson Jake. His scenes won't air until January 2027, but actor Ian is back filming very soon.
Coronation Street airs weeknights at 8:30pm on ITV1 and ITV X.
