Channel 5 Presenter Dani Sinha Criticized for Eye Roll During Bonnie Tyler Death Report
Channel 5 Presenter Eye Roll During Bonnie Tyler Death Report

Channel 5 newsreader Dani Sinha has faced fierce criticism after being spotted rolling her eyes during a segment announcing the death of legendary singer Bonnie Tyler, who passed away aged 75 on Thursday.

Presenter's Errors During Broadcast

Sinha, who has been with Channel 5 for 11 years, made several errors throughout her bulletin, including incorrectly naming Bonnie's smash hit 'Total Eclipse Of The Heart' as 'Total Of Eclipse.' After a clip of Bonnie performing the 1983 track, the segment cut back to the studio where Sinha was caught looking exasperated and rolling her eyes, apparently unaware the cameras had returned to her.

Viewer Reactions Online

Once the clip was posted online, viewers were swift to voice their outrage. One user wrote: 'She's reacting to shambolic tech support.' Another said: 'It was the fact they gave the wrong song title and then played the line from her song 'now I'm falling apart' to fade out to, that was the eye roll.' A third commented: 'She's reacting to the wrong song being put on the autocue!' However, another viewer branded it 'unprofessional. You don't do that in front of a live camera which could cut back to you at any time ... especially when announcing a death.' One viewer called it a 'Total Eclipse of Respect.'

Bonnie Tyler's Passing

Bonnie Tyler, known for her gravelly voice and hits like 'Total Eclipse of the Heart' and 'Holding Out For A Hero,' passed away in Portugal weeks after being put into an induced coma following urgent bowel surgery. A statement on her website read: 'Bonnie's family and team are heartbroken to announce that Bonnie unexpectedly passed away last night in hospital in Portugal as a result of the illness that she was being treated for.' A representative had previously revealed she emerged from the coma but remained 'very unwell and in intensive care.' Bonnie leaves behind her husband Robert Sullivan, an Olympian, whom she married in 1973. The couple had no children.
