Family heartbroken after 38-year-old dies in Carmarthenshire crash

Dyfed-Powys Police have named the victim of a fatal collision on the A40 in Carmarthenshire as Ashley Wayne Keane, 38. The crash, involving a bus and a van, occurred near Llandeilo at around 4.25pm on Friday, July 3.

Family pays emotional tribute

In a statement issued through police on July 10, Mr Keane's family said: "We are utterly heartbroken by the sudden and tragic loss of Ashley Wayne Keane. He will forever be in our hearts and, as his family, kindly ask for privacy to grieve this devastating loss."

Details of the collision

Emergency services, including the Wales Air Ambulance, were called to the A40 between Llandeilo and Nantgaredig at around 4.30pm. The road was closed for several hours while crews attended the scene and collision investigators conducted their inquiries.

Police later confirmed the crash involved a Scania bus and a Ford Transit van. Mr Keane, the driver of the van, was pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin were informed and have been supported by specially-trained officers.

Injuries reported

A 14-year-old passenger on the bus and the bus driver sustained injuries and were taken to Glangwili Hospital in Carmarthen. Their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
