The BBC has confirmed that Celebrity Race Across the World will return on Wednesday, October 28 at 8pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer. The new series follows four celebrity pairs travelling 7,500km from Kuching in the Malaysian state of Sarawak on Borneo to Melbourne, Australia.
New line-up revealed
Princess and Junior Andre, the children of Katie Price and Peter Andre, will race together. Princess, 19, is a social media influencer and model who has fronted ITV's The Princess Diaries, while her brother Junior, 21, is a musician.
Singer Ella Eyre is teaming up with her childhood friend Nana, veteran sports broadcaster Jeff Stelling takes on the challenge alongside his son Matt, and singer Sam Ryder is travelling with his closest friend and tour manager, Kaz.
First look at the journey
In the teaser, Princess says: "We are literally in the middle of nowhere," while travelling on a speedboat. She and Junior are also shown jumping from what appears to be a cliff edge into the water, while another scene shows Junior with his hand to his forehead on public transport.
Sam Ryder shows plenty of enthusiasm as he listens to the sounds of the jungle. "You hear that? That's the sound of adventure," he says. Ella Eyre seems to run into trouble as she observes: "This is definitely feeling like the long way round," while Jeff Stelling shares it is a "once in a lifetime" experience.
What to expect
Jasmyn McGuile, Commissioning Editor at the BBC, teased: "Audiences have been asking when the Race might reach Australia, so we are delighted that they will be able to experience this unique journey for the first time in Celebrity Race Across the World. With an adventurous start in Borneo's Sarawak rainforest, another series first, it makes for an unmissable opener for this year’s celebrity teams."
Tim Harcourt, Chief Creative Officer at Studio Lambert, said of the new series: "This year’s pairs navigate a journey that lays bare two extremes of today’s world. We can’t wait to share how they get on. Contestants give unfiltered and honest reactions to the experiences they face that are as demanding as they are joyful. That’s so rare on television and it’s clear audiences love seeing their favourite stars deal with these daring challenges in spectacular worlds."
The four duos will leave their phones, credit cards and home comforts behind for the journey of a lifetime.
