Drug kingpin Gary Jamieson tagged for breaching super Asbo

Drug kingpin Gary Jamieson, 40, has been fitted with an electronic tag for three months after he was caught flouting his serious crime prevention order, known as a super Asbo, while travelling as a passenger in an Audi.

Jamieson was in the vehicle on May 2, 2024, in Glasgow's Pollokshields. He had previously been jailed for four years in 2020 after producing 840,000 street Valium pills dubbed the 'blue plague'.

Guilty plea and sentencing

Jamieson pleaded guilty to running the £420,000 drugs operation with John Mack, 38, at the High Court in Glasgow. On their release, the pair were made subject to a serious crime prevention order with a string of conditions, including informing police officers of any journey they take in a vehicle within 24 hours.

Jamieson pleaded guilty to breaching the order at Glasgow Sheriff Court and returned to the dock for sentencing. Sheriff Louise Arrol KC ordered him to remain indoors between 7pm and 7am for three months. The sheriff told him: “If you breach this order I can sentence you new and you will understand that this is an alternative to custody.”

Details of the breach

The court previously heard that Jamieson, brother of drug dealer Stephen 'Jimmy' Jamieson, had been made subject to the order for five years. On the night he was caught, officers were conducting a routine traffic stop.

Prosecutor Lauren Aitchison said: "In the Audi vehicle were two men, one of which was Jamieson who was the passenger. A report was sent to the serious crime prevention order group telling of the police interaction with Jamieson. Twenty four hours after, there was no notification from Mack telling them of the journey."

Police attended Jamieson's home in the city's Pollok area in July 2024 and arrested him. Miss Aitchison added: "Jamieson said during interview he thought the police officers who stopped him would have updated the serious crime prevention order team."

Consecutive tag

Michelle Skelly, defending, told the sentencing that her client is on a four-week tag imposed in Paisley. Jamieson's latest sentence will run consecutive to his Paisley tag.
