Cat Deeley has spoken out after a power cut forced ITV to take This Morning, Lorraine and Loose Women off air, with pre-recorded segments broadcast in their place. The outage hit the studio and left producers scrambling for last-minute replacements.
Behind-the-scenes video shows Cat in the dark
In a behind-the-scenes video, Cat filmed herself washing her hair and face in the dark, explaining there was “no electricity” as her hairdresser asked why the tap at the sink was not working. Cat explained there was also “no water”, so her hairdresser poured a bottle of water over her head instead.
The room was lit only by the torch from Cat’s phone, but by the end of the video she was sporting a bouncy blow-dry and the lights were back on. She captioned the post: “No power. No water. The show must go on! “@chadmaxwellhair & I will continue to colour my hair in the face of adversity… we’ll just get a little creative in the process, clearly.”
Lorraine explains the outage to viewers
Lorraine also took to social media to explain that her show would not air, telling fans in a video from her car: “Hello there, I’m on my way to work but there’s been a little bit of a hoo-ha, there’s a power outage at the studio, so my show won’t be on today. “But you can still watch GMB and they’re going to fix it round about 11 o’clock-ish so This Morning will still be on as well, but just maybe a little bit later.”
Lorraine added: “It’s a bit of a shame. I was really looking forward to talking to Sharleen Spiteri from [rock band] Texas, but we shall reschedule, and it’ll all be fine. I will see you tomorrow.” She said in her caption: “These things happen. Can’t be helped. See you tomorrow.”
ITV statement on the disruption
All three shows – Lorraine, This Morning and Loose Women – are filmed in the same studio in Covent Garden, while Good Morning Britain is filmed in Holborn, so it could still go ahead. ITV released a statement to explain to fans: “Following a power cut overnight in the wider area where out Covent Garden studio is based, we are unable to broadcast Lorraine, This Morning and Loose Women live today. “We will return to our normal schedule as soon as possible.”
