Bradley Walsh's new Channel 4 game show, Million Pound Shot, airing tonight at 9pm, has sparked viewer speculation that it may not be a conventional quiz show, with theories circulating about a hidden twist.
Viewers question the show's format
The programme is billed as a one-off event where three contestants appear before a live studio audience for a chance to win a million pounds. The vague concept has prompted social media speculation, especially as the show airs after the watershed.
TV commentator Chuck Thomas shared on X: "Is Bradley Walsh's new Channel 4 quiz show actually a massive television hoax? Something very strange is happening at Channel 4." He added: "Channel 4 is promising extraordinary drama, tension and life-changing outcomes, with a huge secret viewers won't see coming. And now the television detectives are getting suspicious."
Production company raises eyebrows
Thomas also noted that KEO Films, the production company behind the show, is known for documentaries and stunts rather than traditional quizzes. He said: "KEO Films is no ordinary production company... It's famous for fascinating documentaries and extraordinary stunts. The sort of programmes that make you question what you're watching. Not exactly the people you'd normally call for a quiz where Bradley Walsh asks somebody for the capital of Belgium. So what's going on?"
Bradley Walsh, 66, said: "This programme is unlike anything we’ve seen on British TV before, and when I heard about this format I thought it was one of the most original and surprising quiz shows I’d ever encountered." He added: "Alongside playing with their own money, there are more twists and turns along the way – I’m excited for everyone to see how it plays out."
Contestants stake their own money
The format involves contestants bringing their own bank cards and betting cash based on their confidence in general knowledge answers. They can win Bet Balls and choose to take the money or gamble for £1m. Walsh said: "They’re going to have to be willing to take big risks, and back themselves right to the very end. This is not a game for the faint-hearted!"
Despite these details, viewers remain unconvinced. Daryl on X said: "I'm wondering if this is a secret Derren Brown project. We know there's a twist." Another user, @TheBadPsych, said: "New Bradley Walsh million pound gameshow thing, I was told the twist is it's a Derren Brown 'experiment' type show." Tom added: "Channel 4 the home of Derren Brown and never previously Bradley?"
Dylan joked: "Imagine it’s just a regular quiz show with Bradley Walsh and we all look insane on Sunday night." Million Pound Shot airs at 9pm on Channel 4.
