The Beyond Paradise Christmas special will see trouble brewing for one couple as the festive season brings drama to the Devon village of Shipton Abbott. The hit BBC drama returns with its regular cast, including Kris Marshall as DI Humphrey Goodman and Sally Bretton as Martha Lloyd.
Joining them are Zahra Ahmadi as DS Esther Williams, Dylan Llewellyn as PC Kelby Hartford, Barbara Flynn as Anne Lloyd, Felicity Montagu as Margo Martins and Jamie Bamber as Archie Hughes. The team faces a significant case in the run-up to Christmas.
Santa's fall sparks investigation
One young girl's Christmas is made when she spots Santa Claus on the roof of a nearby house. But chaos ensues when it is revealed that a man dressed as Santa has plummeted off the roof. With recent robberies taking place, the investigation turns to the big man himself, with Santa under suspicion.
Elsewhere, Humphrey awaits the man waking up in hospital as he desperately tries to get to the bottom of what happened and why this Christmas will be one to remember. Martha comes face to face with a mysterious stranger after being bombarded with phone calls and a sense she is being followed. As the person reveals themselves, difficult conversations have to take place.
First Christmas for Esther and Archie
After the previous series, this is the first Christmas for Esther and Archie. He feels the pressure to pull out all the stops for the festive season. Kelby, meanwhile, is left playing the middle man when two neighbours are warring over their rival Christmas light displays as each tries to outshine the other.
This year's guest stars include Johnny Vegas (Ideal, Benidorm), Paul Chowdhry (Devils), Martin Trenaman (The Inbetweeners), Syreeta Kumar (Apple Tree Yard) and Sam Hunter (One Battle After Another).
Spin-off from Death In Paradise
Beyond Paradise is a spin-off from hit BBC show Death In Paradise. The show has been fronted by many detectives over the years, most recently DI Mervin Wilson (played by Don Gilet). At one time, Humphrey Goodman was the DI in the Caribbean island of Saint Marie, where he reunited with old friend Martha. Their new life in Devon is the subject of Beyond Paradise.
