Ben Miller, the actor famous for his role as DI Richard Poole in Death in Paradise, has returned to his BBC role in the series Austin. The second season premiered last week, and Miller took to Instagram to express his delight at being back.
Miller's Instagram Announcement
In a video posted on Instagram, Miller said: "Hello there, I just wanted to let you know that season two of Austin is finally out on the BBC. It's on iPlayer, there it is. There we go, season two available on iPlayer right now!"
Fans responded enthusiastically. One commented: "Absolutely brilliant series. Especially when I have the pleasure to work with adults with Autism. It feels like a day at work. Thank you for highlighting this condition. Thank you." Another wrote: "I have been patiently waiting for Austin series 2! Absolutely love it." A third added: "So glad to see you back on screens, miss you on Death in Paradise, you were the best detective."
Plot of Austin
In Austin, Miller plays Julian Hartswood, a successful children's author whose career is derailed by a social media scandal. Episodes three and four of series two aired last night. The synopsis for episode three reads: "Austin misreads a dinner as a date, Julian battles a book title, and Ingrid debates betraying their motto 'No pair, no bear'." Episode four adds: "Austin battles cultural branding, Ingrid wrangles her new star, and Julian accidentally talks their Big Bear actor into quitting."
Miller's Other Roles
Miller is best known for playing DI Richard Poole in Death in Paradise, a role that ended when his character was killed off at the start of series three. He was replaced by Kris Marshall's character, DI Humphrey Goodman. Miller is also set to return in ITV's Professor T. In May, he appeared on Good Morning Britain and said: "We've got season five that will hopefully be coming out in the autumn. I mean, spoiler alert, we're actually working on season six. It's a very exciting situation to be in."
All episodes of Austin are available to watch on BBC iPlayer.
