Bella Hadid Joins Ryan Murphy's Horror Series The Beauty on FX
Bella Hadid Cast in Ryan Murphy's FX Horror The Beauty

Supermodel Bella Hadid is set to make her mark in the horror genre, with confirmation of her casting in Ryan Murphy's highly anticipated new FX series, The Beauty. The 29-year-old will play a character named Ruby in the show, which is scheduled to premiere on 21 January next year.

Star-Studded Cast and Sinister Plot

According to reports from Deadline, Hadid joins an impressive ensemble. The series will feature Evan Peters and Rebecca Hall in leading roles as FBI agents investigating a spate of mysterious deaths within the supermodel community. Their investigation takes them from Paris to other global cities including Rome, Venice, and New York.

The official synopsis reveals a chilling premise: as the agents dig deeper, they uncover a sexually transmitted virus that transforms ordinary people into visions of physical perfection, but with terrifying and deadly consequences. The show is described as a global thriller that poses the question: 'what would you sacrifice for perfection?'

Other notable names taking on guest roles include Meghan Trainor, Isabella Rossellini, and Nicola Peltz Beckham. Ashton Kutcher will portray a tech billionaire known as The Corporation, with Anthony Ramos as his enforcer, The Assassin.

Hadid's Growing Acting Portfolio

While this marks a significant step into a major series, Bella Hadid is no stranger to acting. Her official debut came three years ago with a recurring role in the comedy-drama Ramy in 2022. She also surprised fans last year with a brief appearance in Taylor Sheridan's hit series Yellowstone, playing a character named Sadie.

Back in April, paparazzi captured Hadid filming dramatic and gruesome scenes for The Beauty on the streets of Paris. Photos showed the model covered in fake blood and sporting a graphic leg injury, hinting at the dark tone of the series.

Murphy's Vision and 'Ozempic Culture'

Series creator Ryan Murphy has teased the scale and theme of the show, comparing its ambitious scope to Game of Thrones. In an interview, he linked the show's concept to modern 'Ozempic culture', stating: 'One little shot, and suddenly you're going to look better and feel better, and all your problems are going to go away. But what are you really working on?'

The first three episodes of the 11-episode season will air on FX on 21 January, with the entire batch becoming available for streaming on Hulu the same day. The series is based on a comic book series by Michael Haun and Jason A. Hurley.

This new project follows Murphy's recent Hulu series, All's Fair, which received a critical mauling but found some fans as 'silly escapism'. For Hadid, it represents a serious commitment to her stated ambition of developing an acting career alongside her world-famous modelling work.
