BBC News viewers laugh at accidental 'erections' graphic

BBC News viewers were left amused after a graphic displayed during a recent news bulletin appeared to show an unintended word. The mistake occurred during a piece covering the US midterm elections, when an upside-down reflection on the newsreader's glass table made the letter 'L' look like a lowercase 'R'.

The blunder was noticed on Tuesday, November 2, by Scott Bryan, television critic and co-host of the BBC podcast Must Watch. He shared a screenshot on social media with the caption: "BBC News errrr... you might want to check the reflection."

Fans react to the on-screen mishap

The graphic, which read "US Midterm Elections" next to an American flag, appeared to show the word "erections" due to the reflection. Viewers joined in with jokes online, with one person teasing: "Will they face stiff competition from Sky News?"

Another commented: "They're going to have to open up a Department for Reflections Corrections at this rate." A third added: "Is that a seismic shift in Congressional voting intentions, or are you happy to see me?!" Some also noted the mishap could serve as material for the new sketch show SNL UK.

Traitors fans unimpressed by West End show

The news follows recent frustration among BBC fans over the announcement that the Traitors franchise will continue with a new theatre show in the West End, despite the latest Celebrity Traitors series having just finished. Viewers voiced their displeasure online, with one writing: "Ugh, f****** Traitors again," while another said: "They're going to kick the a*** out of Traitors until everyone is sick of it."
