Lawrence Robb struggled to hold back tears during his appearance on Strictly It Takes Two, just days after being eliminated from Strictly Come Dancing following the show's Halloween Week spectacular.
The actor and his professional partner Jowita Przystał were sent home after Sunday's results programme. They had faced a three-way dance-off alongside Bethany Antonia and Nancy Xu, and Jaime Winstone and Carlos Gu. Judges Shirley Ballas, Craig Revel Horwood and Anton Du Beke all voted to eliminate Robb and Przystał.
Emotional Interview on It Takes Two
Speaking to presenter Ellie Taylor on Monday's (November 2) instalment of the sister show, Robb reflected on his journey, including his reaction to his family finally being able to attend the competition. He admitted it was "lovely to have them" despite the elimination, noting that at least they got to see him dance twice.
Robb also admitted he had been expecting a tough week, saying: "I was semi in my head on borrowed time as last week I thought I would be in the dance-off." He described the exit as bittersweet, explaining: "despite getting voted out it was bittersweet because it in a weird way it kind of felt like we won."
A Personal Highlight and a Message to Co-Stars
Robb revealed that lifting Przystał onto his shoulders during their routine was entirely his own idea. She confirmed she was on board and "somehow" managed to dismount gracefully despite her dress.
When asked about taking part in the first ever three-way dance-off, he told Taylor: "That's not nice. I took on the mantra this week of enjoying it as much as I could and in the past I allowed slightly more negative criticisms from the judges to effect my training and this was the first week I was going to - I'm just going to enjoy it as much as I could."
Towards the close of the interview, Robb grew visibly emotional after watching his highlight reel, with Przystał stepping in to comfort him and clasping his hand. He then delivered a heartfelt message to the remaining contestants, saying: "I think number one is meeting an incredible person in this girl here. The sense family and the joy that it brings every week. The people and the journey."
He added: "The idea of not knowing how to do any ballroom at all and learning it in what three and a half days it's just wild. Also, I think that this should apply to all the couples - or celebrities sorry, doing Strictly, you've already won. Anything on top of that is icing, cherry on top of the cake. You've won."
Strictly It Takes Two continues tomorrow at 6.30pm on BBC Two and iPlayer.
