Amanda Holden Fights Back Tears Discussing Stillborn Son with Alan Carr

Amanda Holden was visibly emotional as she opened up to Alan Carr about the stillbirth of her son Theo in a new episode of their BBC show, Amanda and Alan's Greek Job. The 53-year-old Britain's Got Talent judge described her unique way of coping with the loss, saying she believes Theo 'chose' her for a brief time before being 'taken back by the universe.'

Holden, who is mother to daughters Lexi, 18, and Hollie, 12, with husband Chris Hughes, explained that she never questioned why the tragedy happened to her. 'There wasn't one moment where I thought, why has this happened to me?' she said. Instead, she found solace in the idea that her son 'went back to the universe' and remains a part of the family.

The radio presenter, who has previously spoken about the grief, insisted she always refers to herself as a 'mother of three.' Fighting back tears, she added: 'I was so lucky to have him for all that time. And even though he was born sleeping, he was perfect.'

Fans flooded social media with support, with one calling her a 'beautiful soul' and another praising her 'strength and logic.' The conversation also touched on Holden's near-death experience after giving birth to Hollie, when she went into a coma and 'died' before being revived.

Amanda and Alan's Greek Job is available to stream on BBC iPlayer.
